On Monday, April 7, President Paul Kagame and First Lady Jeannette Kagame officially launched the 31st commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

At the Kigali Genocide Memorial, the President and First Lady honored the memory of the victims by laying a wreath and lighting the Flame of Hope. This symbolic act marked the beginning of a week dedicated to remembrance and reflection. The ceremony brought together Rwandans, government leaders, members of the diplomatic community, and friends of Rwanda, all united in solemn tribute.

From April 7 to 13, Rwandans across the country and abroad are taking part in various activities to remember and honor the over one million lives lost during the 100 days of horror in 1994. The commemoration serves as a powerful reminder of the resilience of the Rwandan people and their ongoing journey toward healing and unity.
